Corvette of the Month - 1957 283/283 Race Car

Corvette of the MonthCarl Bomstead takes a look at a 1957 283/283 Race Car that sold for $115,500 at Gooding's Pebble Beach auction on August 18 and 19. This 'Vette was well documented and its recently rebuilt engine was ready for more vintage racing events. It sold significantly below the pre-sale estimate of $140,000-$160,000, and it was a good buy considering its history as well as its race eligibility.

Scottsdale Corvette Insider's Seminar Free to CM Subscribers

Thanks to support from the collector car hobby, CM subscribers will be able to attend the first annual Corvette Market Scottsdale Insider's Seminar free of charge. Pre-registration is required.

The seminar will take place January 18 in the Russo and Steele tent in Scottsdale, Arizona, from 9 am to 11 am. Publisher Martin will moderate the event, which will be entitled "The Corvette Market - Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow," and will include a panel of leading authorities in the Corvette world. Entry for current CM subscribers is free; non-subscribers pay $100 for 2, or $55 for one. Russo and Steele will provide seminar participants with a catered breakfast at 8 am.
Corvette Race Team Captures the 2007 FIA GT3 Team Championship

GT3 ChampionshipThe three-car Martini-Callaway Z06.R Corvette race team has captured the 2007 FIA GT3 Team Championship. Drivers Luca Pirri and Jurgen von Gartzen were also named runners-up in the GT3 Driver's Championship, with their season highlited by several first and second place finishes across Europe. Katech Performance Unleashes its "Street Attack 500"

This all-aluminum, 8.2-liter V8 monster displaces 500 cubic inches and generates 600 horses and 600 lb-ft of torque. This engine is the evolution of the Street Attack 427 Concept, and adds to Katech's already impressive aersenal that is largely responsible for the recent success of Corvette Racing in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS).
